Case Study: Renault Retail Group

30 Days with Rallye Digital

Key Benefits Discovered Switching from QR Codes to Digital Pricing

"If we were asked to go back to QR codes, I'd argue it would actually cost us money to do so. Rallye Digital looks so much more professional, saves time, and helps us sell more cars and higher value cars. You simply couldn't get it looking any better than Rallye Digital and it’s helped us to achieve one of our better months this year — Rallye Digital is the way forward."

After just 30 days with Rallye Digital, Renault Retail shares the transformative impact on their business.

Here's what changed when they moved from QR codes to Rallye Digital.

Q & A - with Andrew Bennet-Fisher (Renault Retail) and Joshua Cox (Rallye Digital)

1. Increased Sales Performance

Q: Have you noticed changes in sales performance?

The dealership experienced one of their better months since installation, with two notable improvements:

Higher-value sales: We are now seeing some customers purchase more expensive vehicles. With both cash prices and full finance examples clearly displayed, buyers with specific budgets can see they can afford higher-value cars through financing.

Better customer engagement: Previously, customers would scan one or two QR codes, assume all cars were similarly priced if those two were over budget, and leave. Now they can see all prices instantly, find cars within their budget, and stay engaged longer.

2. Dramatic Time Savings

Q: How has staff time changed since moving to digital?

The efficiency gains have been substantial across multiple areas:

Automatic updates: What used to take 8 to 15 minutes per car is now instant. At an average wage of £16 per hour, this represents significant labor cost savings.

Instant customer service: When customers ask about cars, both they and the sales team can see vehicle prices at a glance. No more trips back to the office to check prices, eliminating delays and customer frustration.

Increased productivity: The freed-up time means the team now uploads 2-3 extra cars online per day.

Faster enquiries: While difficult to quantify precisely, the time saved when customers enquire about vehicles on-site is significant. Sales staff have immediate access to all pricing and specification information without appearing unknowledgeable or causing delays.

3. Zero Errors, Complete Accuracy

Q: Have there been any errors since switching from QR codes?

Since switching to Rallye Digital: no errors at all.

Previously, staff would sometimes place the wrong QR codes in vehicles, which were hard to detect without scanning every car as a double-check. Digital displays eliminated this issue entirely, ensuring full accuracy and compliance.

The transparency also addresses a perception issue: QR codes can suggest something is being hidden, while Rallye Digital displays appear professional with all information clearly visible.

4. Improved Staff Morale

Q: Have you seen improvements in staff morale or efficiency?

The team genuinely loves the new system. Hours previously wasted printing QR sheets and adding them to vehicles are now spent on more valuable tasks. The ability to access price and specification information instantly during customer enquiries has made their jobs easier and less frustrating.

As the dealer put it: "The time saving is significant and we wouldn't want to go back!"

5. Enhanced Customer Experience

Q: How do customers respond to digital displays compared to QR codes?

Big improvement. Customers can now see all prices instantly rather than scanning QR codes one by one.

Previously, customers would come in and scan one or two QR codes, and then either lose interest and leave, or they would assume that if those two cars were over budget, that all the cars would be a similar price and then they'd leave the branch.

Since moving to Rallye Digital, there's been a noticeable increase in customer engagement and customers can easily find cars within their budget and stay engaged longer.

6. Cost Elimination

Q: Did you stop printing QR code sheets after installing Rallye Digital displays?

The dealership has completely stopped printing QR code sheets, which previously required 10-20 sheets per week at approximately £0.20 each. While modest, this eliminates both printing costs and paper waste.

The Verdict

After 30 days, the question isn't whether Rallye Digital is worth it, it's whether the dealership could afford to go back. The technology has proven itself not just as a display solution, but as a genuine revenue driver that improves efficiency, accuracy, and customer experience simultaneously.

The transition from QR codes to Rallye Digital has delivered measurable improvements, making it clear that digital pricing displays aren't just the future, they're a competitive necessity today.

Richard Norris of Drive Green
Shares His Experience Since Going Digital

In this Q & A - Richard Norris (MD) of Drive Green explains how his Rallye Digital Pricing Displays have impacted his dealership.

  • The automatic nature of the updates means that our forecourt prices match our website and advertised prices, rather than needing to wait for staff to have time to make a manual update.

The potential for different prices on the forecourt compared to online are, as a result, removed. Prices are automatically changed ready for the start of the following day, with staff no longer needing to do anything

  • The team is loving the new system, as the new displays are saving them so much time that would previously been spent manually updating prices.

This is a much more time-consuming function than I think is sometimes realised, due to printing sheets of paper, finding keys, going to cars, changing the price sheet and returning the keys etc

  • Because it is so quick and easy to update prices now, it means we are a lot more likely to change prices much more frequently. This is super important in a volatile and competitive car market, where it is critical to have every vehicle priced perfectly every day.

You never know when the potential buyer of a car will be looking at your stock, and when they do it is critical that the car they are looking at is priced right.

This is a huge benefit for us with the new system, as we are daily checking and changing prices to make sure our stock always performs as well as possible

  • Yes, they are also proving popular with customers, which not only enjoy the techy and modern nature of the displays, but they also like that they can easily access lots of additional vehicle information by simply scanning a QR on each car’s display

  • Switching to digital displays has been even more of a success and even more beneficial than even we anticipated, and I urge other motor trade businesses to do the same.

Not only to reduce waste, but also to greatly improve business efficiency, through labour saving and more accurate pricing.
